Membership in ASPD in some form - Fellow or associate - is available to podiatrists with a special interest in and commitment to dermatology. Fellow membership is conferred upon those who are in the APMA and who have met relevant criteria recognized by the ASPD Board.

The ASPD is participating in the APMA National Meeting in

Boston 2011. Please join us on July 31 for the Dermatology Track 10 am - 12 pm and a Case Review from 1pm - 2 pm

ASPD is an education, research and advocacy organization which promotes understanding of the skin and nail diseases with respect to the foot.

Membership Information

Membership in ASPD in some form - Fellow or Associate - is available to podiatrists with a special interest in and commitment to dermatology (skin and nail pathology). Fellow membership is conferred upon those who have met criteria recognized by the ASPD Board.

Membership Requirements

Membership is limited to podiatric physicians who are members in good standing of the American Podiatric Medical Association.

Associate:

  • Graduation from CPME approved college of podiatric medicine;
  • Membership in good standing in the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and adherence to that organization's Code of Ethics;
  • Holder of a current valid license to practice.

Fellow:

All of the Associate requirements plus - three supplemental options:
  1. Submission of twenty case histories of podiatric dermatological conditions including symptoms, histories, disnosis and treatment. This information should be supported by clinical photographs and at least five cases should have biopsy reports.
  2. Alternatively, a candidate may present credentials as having an academic appointment in a medical or podiatric college
  3. Alternatively, a candidate may present a dermatological study published in a recongnized Journal or a chapter contribution to a book.

The society serves as a voice for the podiatrist with interest in dermatology. As a member, one can:

  • Attend, at a reduced cost, ASPD sponsored or co-sponsored scientific seminars designed to keep practitioners at the forefront of podiatric dermatological medicine today
  • Keep pace with important issues and breakthroughs in podiatric dermatological medicine through the website which has important and interesting topics.
  • Keep abreast of important ASPD and other professional activities through periodic newsletters and/or news faxes
  • Interact professionally and socially with colleagues sharing similar interests
