About the DERMfoot Seminar
Since 1958, the American Society of Podiatric Dermatology - now called the American Society of Foot and Ankle Dermatology (ASFAD) - has provided the latest education on skin and nail diseases of the foot and ankle.
Over the years, the society has directed the Cherry Blossom Seminar, which has evolved to become the most popular annual dermatology event in our profession. Through the vision of our president, Joel Morse DPM, and the ASFAD Board, we have advanced the program to 21 CME with unique open panel discussions and workshops involving a world class group of lecturers and scientists.
The 2015 seminar was a true game-changer in terms of our growth. We advanced to a new level of awareness among both podiatrists and dermatologists by attracting the top sponsors and exhibitors in the dermatology world. 2016 seminar entry will begin on Thursday, April 14 with live "hands-on" presentations and workshops facilitated by leaders in their field, as we focus on what we do best: nail/skin biopsy and practice management. Our 2016 featured lecture - Ashfaq Marghoob, MD - will conduct a course in acral dermoscopy, referred to as "simply one of the best dermoscopy lectures on the planet." It is an integrative seminar for those who practice on skin and nails every day.
Dermatology of the foot and ankle has blossomed into a sub-specialty, which now competes with foot and ankle surgery. As we have been told, "Skin is HOT...and surgery is NOT." For the first time ever, we will also be offering a billing and coding practice management track, led by Dave Freedman, DPM, and co-sponsored by PICA. Not only will you receive a 10% malpractice premium discount, but you will learn the tools you need to increase your bottom line when charting and avoid audits. The emerging role of the podiatric physician in telemedicine will be discussed, as well as how to work with specialty pharmacies in order to fill common dermatolgicals. Bret Ribotsky, DPM, and his wife Marta Rendon, MD, both visionaries in running a multi-million dollar dermatology and podiatry practice, will offer their knowledge.
In order to extend our outreach, key lecturers will be video recorded and published online as they are available, with enduring materials for our membership. The online lecture series and DERMfoot news e-blasts can be viewed following the seminar.
We are the best known "skin" seminar in the podiatric world. There will be additional opportunities outside of the educational program to hold round-table discussions with our guest faculty and board.
